This project is about choosing a specific cultural event and creating a poster about it. The poster must show the stylistic influence of a major art or design movement. I chose to create the poster for Mary Poppins in New York School style.

 

The objects in the poster (hat, flower, umbrella, red ribbon, and big bag) are very important and symbolic objects about the Mary Poppins. I tried to express the object in very simplified forms, but still recognizable. And I used the music notes because this poster is for Mary Poppins in musical version. I used the bright yellow color for the background, because this color works well for the target audiences. I avoided to use too childish colours such as pink and pastel blue, because I thought the parents who remember the story about Mary Poppins from their childhood could come to see this musical with their children. And I thought the umbrella ( with the parrot handle ) is the most important and the recognizable object of Mary Poppins. So I chose to put a large umbrella in the centre of the poster and put information about the event inside of umbrella.
