Putting It All On The Table, curated by School of Visual Arts 3D Design Chair, Kevin O'Callaghan, was the inaugural exhibition of the MFA Design for Social Innovation department.
The exhibition, which opened in January of 2014 and was featured in the New York Times, featured the work of 24 students - all of whom were asked to create a 3D visual statement about the current status of the global food system beginning only with a simple wooden table and chair.
My Installation
A Deserted Dinnertime, featured a 6-foot chair-turned-cactus and a cracked, sand-covered table. This piece was meant to give quite literal representation to the phenomenon of "food deserts", or communities across the United States that don't have access to affordable, healthy foods.
