Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. People who have this are called synesthetes.
This issue of Synth'Zine talks about Sound-to-Color Synesthesia. When sound triggers the visualization of colored, generic shapes, this Synesthesia is at play.

I started noticing the sounds around me, and made illustrations on how from a synesthetic perspective look at how sound(music or different distinct sounds and noises) could be represented as colors.
