To design 3 covers that would appeal to children - the aim, to be bright and bold whilst interesting at the same time. 11 to 14 year olds like to see fun and inspiring books to learn from. Staying away from cartoons or hand drawn themes, but instead utilizing shapes and colours. Children love to see bright fun colours and ones that are easily recognizable.
Children also relate to images/patterns and colours hence a polygon overlay with an image coming through. The use of images - a spaceman, tiger and trees, utilizing the colours of the blue, yellow and pink polygon shaped overlays, these covers came to life and with the careful placement of the book title and author, they have the desired impact and memorability that will stir a child’s mind into thinking “Yes I remember that textbook”.
