Garmin edge action camera

This project is about the action camera I designed for a school assignment.

We had to design a action camera that would fit in the product range of a brand. In my case I had Garmin as a brand to work with. I designed the camera for cyclist because Garmin has a big range of products for cyclists.

I first made a design brief to start the project.

Then I analysed the design features of the brand and started to sketch some of the ideas.

With a basic idea in my head I started to make small and rough prototypes.
I tested them on my bike and refined the shape some more.

The next step was to make a 3D model to send to a 3Dprinter

The I started prototyping the actual model. I used rapid prototyping techniques like a 3D printer and a lasercutting machine to make the model.

Then I started with the finishing of the prototype. I applied a couple of coats of filler and paint to get the desired finish.
2 finished prototypes
Then I went out to take some photos of the final product in use.

A large button to opperate the camera will make it easy to use with gloves
