Whilst driving home with a good friend a unexpected corner sent us off the road into the bushes. This book has been based around the feeling of time slowing down in life threatening situations.

Synopsis

Elliot and I were driving home when we were faced by a tight corner, the car skidded and we ended up travelling off the road, through a hedge, a fence and eventually hitting a electricity pylon. Luckily we both walked away untouched from the accident. The story outlines how life threatening situations confuse the brain’s perception of time due to the increased amount of information taken in as it braces the body for the worst outcome.

The book cover was designed to look like a car seat. I strongly remember gripping the car seat while skidding along as if trying to brace myself. I wanted the reader to have this same experience so the book was crafted from foam allowing them to 'grip the seat' too.

I wanted to take the reader through the same emotional experience as I had. I used typography to demonstrate how my brain was taking in a variety of new information from all my senses by varying the sizes of selective text.
