In recent years, fresh water shortage has become an increasing threat in the western world. In 2004, Singapore started an initiative called NEWater, which transforms sewage water into perfectly clean drinkable water. Similar efforts are also in progress in the US, but has faced problems gaining acception by the public.
With Re:form, I wanted to envision how effluent drinking water can be packaged in a more interesting, practical and sustainable way. One of the main challenges was to find a visual language that by the use of color and material feels both technical and sterile while also honest and natural.
The structure is made of 100% recyclable grey board and the shape of the container is a half octagon, allowing for more space efficient transportation compared to round bottles. It also gives full control over how the bottle is carried for stronger brand impact.
