CONCEPT: WHITE is the new White
The yearning for a lighter complexion reflects lasting colonial legacies of subjugation and self-denial.
The preference for white skin is not merely one of choice or aesthetics, but seems to grow from self-doubt and the lingering confusions of a post British colony identity.
The photo shoot however, decries a much larger system that penalizes anyone who doesn't fit within certain parameters of attractiveness.
"WHITE is the new white" represents India's Unhealthy Obsession with Fair Skin and the depiction of this thought in its most literal sense.
