Visceral Praxis [Number Two]

VISCERAL / instinctive, relating to deep inward feelings
PRAXIS / a process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, practiced, embodied, or realized.

BRIEF/ SYNTHESIS
Surface, object, and grid occupy both positive and negative space in the x, y, and z cooridinates of a 200’ x 150’ x 70’ site devoid of specific program or gravitational concerns. Traditional spatial relationships concerning top, bottom and side are supplanted with opportunities to develop moments of spatial and compositional resolution at a global scale; following a logic which allows for flexibility and problem solving at a local level.

PROCESS/ EXPLICATION
The topology of the ‘object’ can be conceptually simplified as a cone, but it’s application here is neither finite or infinite. The strategic cropping of the object allows the object to inherit additional flexibility when operated on. In its isolated state, it is clearly identifiable as an object that is distincly different from surface or grid, however, in this project, its disparate characteristics can be indistinguishable from the other two elements. The project makes equal and  deliberat use of both positive and negative space. Grid and surface function to both glue and distinguish elements at various scales.
