VISCERAL / instinctive, relating to deep inward feelings
PRAXIS / a process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, practiced, embodied, or realized.

BRIEF/ SYNTHESIS
Surface, object, and grid occupy both positive and negative space in the x, y, and z cooridinates of a 200’ x 150’ x 70’ site devoid of specific program or gravitational concerns. Traditional spatial relationships concerning top, bottom and side are supplanted with opportunities to develop moments of spatial and compositional resolution at a global scale; following a logic which allows for flexibility and problem solving at a local level.

PROCESS/ EXPLICATION
The geometry of the ‘object’ allows for maximum variation across three distinct families that can be vaguely triangular, rectilinear, and eliptiodal, depending on both its orientation in the x,y,z and the proportion of its scale in each of these discrete dimensions within the object itself. The otherwise disconnected nature of three disparate shape languages, become united in its volumetric quality as it interacts with both surface, grid, and other deformations of the object itself. The bent and contorted nature of the surface establishes a relationship to the primary x,y,z, grid that results in moments of convergence, divergence, compression, and tension that can serve to both reveal and obfuscate positive and negative expressions of form. The grid was developed with a controled randomization that operated in tandem with both object and surface to create controlled moments and dynamic experiences at all scales and depths within the confines of the site.
