What is Art?
I believe that everyone has a different interpretation of what Art is and what it means, but to me, art is a language and a way of expressing feelings and emotions that are built up inside. Art is also a way of communicating without having to say a word, which is especially helpful for young children who know little spoken vocabulary and enjoy experimentation. 'To children, a surface of black or coloured marks made by them on a piece of paper, or any surface, in pencil, crayon or felt pen is a mirror to the "motor mark- making" movement of their hand and arm, and a visible and external affirmation of their existence: it is a gestural self-portrait'. For me, I believe that art is a talent that everyone carries but not everyone chooses to show or present an interest for, which is why it has been said that 'sophisticated adults...draw like adolescents', I believe that if everyone puts their mind to it, they will realise that art is a talent that they naturally have. My interpretation of art is that it can help people see the world from many perspectives due to their own interpretations of what they see as a drawing. One drawing or painting can produce many views on everything and anything and it is up to the person viewing it to gain their own interpretation. Art 'creates problems to solve' and answers its own questions. The process of sitting down and creating art comes from what is in people's minds and nothing else, which is why it doesn't always go to plan and why mistakes are made, as what is in people's minds may not be what they wish to present on the paper.
