Hui Book
Screenprint, Handbinding
Architecture and graphic design are two forms of art that have many things in common. For my project Hui Book, I chose several ancient Chinese architectural elements, such as the outline of the roof, the solid part of wall, and the shade of the window. I then simplified them into abstract geometric shapes and lines. I distributed each of them to a single layer and all of them on the screen. I screenprinted it and composed each layer in the appropriate layout. Finally, I made a little book full of shapes and compositions. This little book holds a two-dimensional version of the form test. By creating and improving it, I began to understand the most basic elements often could lead to a more intense and beautiful effect. Also, through this project I experienced the transformation of the three-dimensional form to two-dimensional form.
