Create a typeface for anything of your choice.

 

SOLUTION:

 

Revamp Downtown Disney's signage with a new and improved typeface. 

 

Disney is famous for the magic it creates. They achieve this by paying strict attention to each detail. Downtown Disney is the more grown up area in Florida. Therefore, I decided to focus on the night life of downtown, and figure out how to merge adult responsibility with childhood merriment. In the middle of downtown floats the "Characters in Flight" hot air balloon, decorated with classic Disney characters. Among them are characters from Peter Pan. This inspired me to focus on the idea of never growing up, and how we are all kids at heart. 

 

In order to combine the look of a classy nightlife with the youthfulness of Disney, I paired two typefaces that are as opposite as the looks I am combining. I took the original Disney typeface and combined it with Didot. I took the swirls and flourishes used in the Disney font and added them to Didot for a base.  In the end, two typefaces that would normally never go together combined to make a typeface perfect for fresh headlines for Downtown Disney.
