Massey Object Light Shade

So this work is part of a first year massey studio paper that acts as an introduction to industrial design, by responding to a brief of making a lightshade/ lightshaper for an energy efficient bulb that was made with 1 material, trying to use no glue, string or other binding method only the material and sonic welder to produce design.
This is the inspiration that lead to my final design inspired by some crofting excersize to give paper 3 Dimensional shape we did in class. Then began to think about how it would look with others joined to sides.
The result was the creation of this shape.
Then went and considered a solution for joining the lightshade together without the assistance of glue or sonic welder, by slotting and turning pieces together
This is a look at half of the formed shape from interior in first plastic draft.
Fully made first draft lightshaper/ lightshade in plastic material with energy efficient bulb inside.
The lightshade  in full darkness.
The disasembled lightshade ready for transport.
The net for remaking lightshade with more consideration to making more effective join for less movement after assembly, and considering size change to switching to a smaller bulb so it wasn't touching plastic.
(left) The first draft model in plastic, (right) the final model for submission.
final model with light.
My final hanging amongst some of the other lightshades from my class.
