Fill Restaurant

This project has two awards
Silver Award for Identity Design at the 2012 Loerie Awards.
Merit Award for Typography by the ISTD 2011.

The objective of this brief was to create a concept for the branding of a typographically themed restaurant. In typography a quad is a metal piece that is used in letterpress to fill in spaces in between letters. This made me research and conceptualise around the idea of white space within typography.

After conducting my research I came to the conclusion that just as humans, type has it's own area of personal space. White space. White space acts as a letter's personal space in which it lives and acts in. My concept believes that if each being is given the right amount of personal space, they are able to function well within themselves and in harmony with others.

I executed the concept in 3 areas, namely the menu, a tablecloth, and plate ideas. Throughout the executions, I used the golden ration since it is said to be the ideal ratio.
