Originally I was tasked with designing a new logo for the custom cabinet maker- Holz-Laden. Little direction was given so I came up with concepts that made the most sense to me- and my limited knowledge of cabinet making. As my diagram describes below I created the logo the way I did because it incorporates both families together as one, as well as highlighting the fact that as a custom cabinet maker, one must make something out of nothing. The doted lines finish off the shape to be, and how it may look in the carpenter's head prior to completion.
The font choice was made because Helvetica, in its condensed form, brings a modern, strong, and cheerful feeling to the design. Perfect for a company you will trust to come into your home and shape the way one of the most important rooms feels and looks like. I decided on the orange and grey mix because they fit together nicely to give the viewer the feeling of experience and command, while still being approachable enough to invite you in.
