Toulouse Lautrec was a Post-impressionist and Art Nouveau Artist best known for his work done in and for the Moulin Rouge. This chapbook offers an overview of his life and work.
When designing I sought to capture the excitement, mixed with the harsh reality, of his life in the Montremonte district of Paris in the late 19th Century.
Although born to an Aristrocratic family, he struggled with a growth defect which greatly inhibited his life. Turning to the streets of Paris for acceptance, he found it among prostitutes and nightclub dancers. They quickly became the inspiration of many of his works.

The titles and quotes of the book feature my own hand done typography influenced by the type done by Toulouse-Lautrec on his famous prints. Goudy Bookletter 1911 is used for the body copy. It is held with a coptic bind relating to corsets worn by the dancers and prostitutes with which he lived. The cover is printed on Daler-Rowney Murano Textured #98 lb Yellow and Midnight Fine Arts Papers. The body of the book is printed on Mohawk Superfine Eggshell White #80 lb text paper.
