This project was started as attempt to create an object which carried visual signs of the process's which created it. The visible seam entailing its casting along with the nature of the texture and surface point towards its former existence as a liquid wax set into a cast object. The object is also rough in form allowing it to seem crafted and handmade. This intention derives from my dissatisfaction of much of contemporary design which feels like it is not hand made and not intelligible. The design was originally intended to feature printed patterns on the outside. This iteration is a foreseeable line of development for the design.
Different coloured wax allows the sense of fluidity of the wax to be present.
Drawings illustrate original process for creating the vase. This was later changed to a plaster and scrim mold of a clay positive.
Shows mold, wax was rotational molded within the mold to form a hollow vase.
