Yin Yang Tea Infuser

In other cultures it is bad luck/pour etiquette to pour your own tea when with company. Being the result of an open-ended Drawing for Design class, this vessel is meant to facilitate the ritual of sharing tea. Inspired by the physical form and ideas surrounding the Chinese Yin Yang, this tea pot is capable of brewing two types of tea. The different tea colours blend together depending on the viewing angle of the user. The tea can be kept warm by adding a small candle beneath the vessel.

Yin and Yang are opposites, always in a constantly changing balance. They are interdependent; neither can exist without the other. However, nothing is totally Yin or totally Yang. Just as a state of total Yin is reached, Yang begins to grow. They constantly transform into each other. This concept of yin and yang can be applied to anything in life. For example, if the black is to represent the bad in life, the white is the good inside the bad. And vise versa, the small black circle can represent the bad inside the good. This whole cycle is what our lives are made up of.
