Dutch Stroopwafel | Netherlands

Stroopwafel is a tradtional Dutch treat, made from two thin layers of baked waffle with a caramel filling in the center. This treat is usually served along with coffee and tea. It is originally from Gouda, Netherlands, and was invented around late 18th century. The invention has been ascribed to a baker by the name of Gerard Kamphuisen, who used left over crumbs as the main ingredient. The name, "Krümel", originates from the word "crumb".

There are 3 flavors for the stroopwafels, which come in 2 sizes. 3 flavors of fruit spread will be accompanied to pair with the stroopwafels. Krümel will ideally be distributed at cafes, tea shops, and groumet food stores.

This project was inspired by the diversity of culture, and how one can introduce a snack that is not common to the local culture into the marketplace.
