I feel that with more people having access to cameras, the portrait world is slowly filling up with more photos of people giving off fake personas. I wanted to capture these people in a state that resembled an emotion of deep thought or pondering, letting you into a personal moment.

I used only natural lighting on most of these to make the feel of the photos more natural and organic, again, straying from the common use of overhead artificial lighting. I did not use a backlight so that the photo would have almost tenebristic qualities, similar to Rembrandt paintings, having a full tonal range, and higher contrast.

With using a mainly monochromatic color scheme, with a small complimentary color thrown in there, it made the picture have a deep, yet slightly light mood, adding to their facial expression.
