The Game of Financial Life
Designing an Instructional Manual to acquaint a community to Financial Capability

The Game of Financial Life is a group activity (game) designed for members of low-income regions in India, to learn about Financial Capability (based on a research conducted by GIZ).

The Facilitator's Guidebook is an instructional manual for one of the members of the community who will be conducting/overseeing the gameplay and making sure the other members grasp the concept through an interactive storytelling session about a family and their financial journey over the span of 20 years.

This book introduces the game and its rules to the Facilitaor who has to then accurately pass on this information to the participants. The book contains parallel instructions for the Facilitator and information that he has to convey to the participants. There are direct instructions that are imperative to address and there are additional tips and tricks for the Facilitator to keep the group engaged.

PROCESS
Content Structure
The first step in the process of designing this training manual was to structure the content. After several iterations a content flow was decided that would be the best method to train the Facilitator. After this, the structure was sent to be populated with the actual content.
Visual Explorations
Several information dissemination formats were explored that could be suiable for the nature and purpose of the game. Many iterations were carried out to fix an illustration style and iconography which would appeal to the audience.
