Chinese New Year Typography

Chinese New Year Couplets Typography

This was a class assignment done in Taiwan's Fu Jen Catholic University as part of my exchange programme in Nanyang Technological University. We were tasked to do Chinese New Year couplets with a twist in its typography. I picked a particularly unique word in Chinese culture. The word is literally a phrase fused into one single character. It means "Hailing golds and welcoming treasures".

I've decided to pick Motion Graphics as the execution medium because I've always been interested to pick up After Effects. The end result is a vibrant yet simple animation that is suitable to be projected or sent as an e-card during the festive Chinese New Year season. You can expect to find some currency symbols in the typography. Let's all get rich!
