Speaking, Drawing, Printing: The History of Paper

Speaking, Drawing, Printing is a chapbook on the history of paper and its role in the development of communication among the human race. When beginning research on the history of paper, I quickly came accross the book Papermaking: The History and Technique of an Ancient Craft by Dard Hunter, a prominent member of the Arts and Crafts movement. Mr. Hunter begins his retelling of paper's history with a quote splitting the development of man into three stages related to communication, Speaking, Drawing, and Printing. I found this quote fascinating, and decided to base the direction for the chapbook on creating a more concise and visually contemporary version of Hunter's book.
