PROBLEM STATEMENT
In collaboration with the Centre for re-use, within the postgraduate course at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, we were given a task to create a new useful object from old defective slot machine.

RESEARCH
An extended research, which was followed by a decision to make a rocker, even though this material does not suit to strict regulations set for children’s toys. I wanted to show wide range of possibilities for reuse.

VALIDATION, PROTOTYPING
This was followed by plotting 3D model from which I gained technical plan for cardboard cut-out template with the help of the cutter. All parts of the toy were cut, processed and dyed by hand.

FINALIZATION
The greatest advantage of Gu-galo is that it consists without gluing and screwing and is completely disassemblable.

Gu-galo is made entirely from one old defective slot machine.

In collaboration with the Centre for re-use Tržič and Ljubljana, within the postgraduate course at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, I made rocking play for children. Gu-galo is ergonomically adapted to the age group of children from the third to fifth years. All edges are protected with straps made of scrap felt. The greatest advantage of Gu-galo is that it consists without gluing and screwing and is completely disassemblable.
Gu-galo is part of the exhibition AFTER-USE, it is an accompanying event of BIO 50: NOW and was also presented at the Month of Design 2014 in Ljubljana, Slovenija.
