Selling Space Exploration to the Amish

MPA Roses Brief: Coalition
Selling space colonisation to the Amish
The brief called for a coalition between 2 unlikely entities working together. After much brain storming, I settled on an alliance between NASA and the Amish.

A manipulative and sinister government force called FARSE (Foundation for Amish Resettlement and Space Exploration) was created to sell the idea of space colonisation to the Amish, a religious movement that famously eschews modern technology, by creating a fictionalised "heaven" on a farming planet far away where they can live in peace. Reaching a group of people for whom the internet and other forms of established advertising mediums were not readily available was a challenge that I accepted with the inception of my brief, with the project taking on 3 forms: 1; a guerrilla campaign, 2; posters that are influenced by World War II propaganda, and 3; a leaflet stage that was designed to resemble religious pamphlets. A ticket slip was also designed to invoke the feel of luxury air travel, tying in with the style of the poster campaign.
The first initial phase is the "crop circle" campaign, where the Foundation's logo was emblazoned on all large crops in Amish townships, generating talk and interest amongst the farming communities who may believe them to be the work of a higher power.
The second phase begins with the start of a fly poster campaign in and around Amish community buildings. The images chosen were specifically designed to use biblical allegories for travel. Powerful words such as 'Pilgrimage' and 'Crusade' spark an emotional response from the viewer. The illustrations themselves include striking images of significant cultural or religious value among the Amish and showcasing obvious references to space travel. The company logo is placed dead centre on each poster, making the link between them and the previous crop circles.
The final phase is where the Foundation is revealed to masses. Representatives of the companies interests will arrive at townships bearing pamphlets that include details on their new home planets and travel arrangements, giving away tickets to interested Amish families.
