Craft Documentation 2014 | Mysore

Our journey to Mysore was one such journey which gave us an insight about tradition. How age old traditions change due to the norms of the new world and how few souls strive to keep its true essence intact. It also made us understand how the life of an artist is pure hard work and that nothing comes easy. This craft cluster initiated by the National Institute of Fashion Technology offered us a peek into the areas and lifestyles we students had no idea about. It helped us in gaining knowledge about the subject we worked upon, the traditional Mysore Paintings. We got an opportunity to meet the maestros of the art and interact with them in person. It was a privilege to meet and be around people whose sole occupation is to keep alive a dying art.
The purpose of this document is to bring light on the fact that these arts are slowly dying out and why it is crucial to promote and support the art and the artists. The experience we student received through this craft cluster is something we can never let go off. We left Mysore with a head full of knowledge and experience and a heart full of pride and humility knowing that our country is home to such wonderful art and it is our duty to help it thrive.
