Weaving: Double Cloth II

This project was aimed at using the concept of Double Cloth weaving technique to create an installation or a product. The idea behind this piece was to create waves at varying distances alternating on both the sides of the base. The entire piece was woven on a dobby loom using three warps.
Each of the three waves travelled on either side of the translucent woven base fabric. For the base weft, cotton yarn and wires were used. For the weft of the waves, polyester sewing thread and wires were used. For the warp again, cotton and wires were used. Wire was an integral part of the structure as it provided the much required strength and formed the base skeleton of the piece.

Based on the explorations of Double Cloth weaving, I decided to take the technique a step further to create this surface on a dobby loom.
