Project assignment location is situated on 2 TIME BORDERS of the surrounding bulidings; on the west a structure from the middle ages, on the east a rigid french raster from the 18 th century. Theme of the location itself is a defensive wall with a water canal, and a garden from a time right after the wall demolition and the arrival of the French.
Substantially, the city center is not missing anything in such great deal that only one content would become a theme of this new building. But it is definitely missing HOUSING adjusted to present and future requirements of the city centre dwellers, as well as content that will subsequently SERVICE andSUPPORT the building as a whole, such as PUBLIC and COMMON contents through a theme of PUBLIC PARTERRE.
The project evolves housing typologies adjusted to different user requirements. Housing units are used as “rentable” (hotel type) or “buyable” (appartment type). Content such as – small marketplace, shops, diner, art gallery, tavern, grocery store – service the building and make it affordable to the city.
