Fabric for Jacquard Weaving: Concepts

This project was about taking inspiration from a creator, and building on it to create concepts for jacquard weaving. I derived my inspiration from Korean artist Seung Mo Park, who never fails to amaze with his astonishingly crafted figurative sculptures made with tightly wrapped layers of aluminum wire based on fiberglass forms. Also, I co-related it with the work of Chinese activist Ai Weiwei who created a 760 bicycle installation, where the massive stacked structure could be explored from within.
Non fabric explorations were created in an attempt to carry the same language into fabrics. I tried to explore each material selected in depth, bringing out its properties clearly.
Corrugated sheet resembled the inspiration to quite a large degree and was very fascinating to work with. Samples created from this particular material were also my most viable options for conversion into jacquard fabric.
Apart from 2.5D structures as achieved by corrugated sheets, I worked on other textures simulated on plain paper using various application methods.
Thank you!
