Fracture

'Fracture' is a magazine I have created for Shelterbox, covering the Philippines typhoon, earlier in 2014.
The whole design concept, is based around the idea of fracturing, as I wanted to create this sense of lost and the surreal effects of a typhoon. Fracturing the images and type, suggests the distruction of the typhoon itself, in which I have also kept this green block of colour at the bottom of each page, which represents the typhoon and the surge it brought, which flooded local communities around the coasts of the Philippines. The block of colour throughout the magazine decreases, showing the surge itself, and how it came and destroyed most of the villages, therefore at the start of the magazine the images and type is more fractured. But with the decrease in the water (block of colour), the type and image become less fractured representing that Shelterbox have been and came to help re-build and help the communities.
The images in the above page, show the person within the photographs standing up-right, however the background and the environment has been turned upside down, to represent that their lifes have been destroyed yet they are still standing.
Thanks for looking!
