Mega-City One Soundscape Development

As part of my Audio II module I was asked to develop a soundscape for Mega-City One from the Judge Dredd comics. I had to create a unique soundscape that captures the feeling of being in the city. A portion of the soundscape must capture a feeling of moving through the city.

The following are the initial steps that I took in creating this soundscape. Firstly I began to research Mega-City One as I had never read the comics nor had I see both of the films, following this I looked up images of Mega-City One so I could get a basic idea of what the city is like.

For inspiration I looked at sci-fi films that are based in the future that contained aspects in which I hoped to use in my soundscape. I then began to look up more images of futuristic cities, vehicles, robots and homes before creating moodboards.

I then wrote down what sounds I would like to include into my soundscape. The following are sounds that I hope to source and include in my project:
Ø  Trains.
Ø  People talking.
Ø  Gunshots.
Ø  Train door opening.
Ø  Footsteps.
Ø  City ambience.
Ø  Train station ambience.
Ø  Sirens.
Ø  Robots
Ø  People on street talking
Ø  Aircrafts.
Ø  Walking up steps.
Ø  Opening and Closing of a door.
Ø  Screams.

Using the above list I went on to create a moodboard.
I found that this allowed me to form an idea as to what I wanted my soundscape to be before I developed it. Once I had sourced all of the audio I began to edit and manipulate the sounds in reaper and then proceeded to upload my progress to soundcloud.
