Captive or Cared For
The mouths of snakes on the beaches of Penang were strapped and sellotaped shut, so that visitors could enjoy a cuddle; elephants listened to the leaf-whistling command of their relaxed drivers, as they plodded up mountains, laden with tourists; birds were allowed to share dinners with locals, dining at their balconies...
This project was about exploring human interactions with animals. Here I utilized my experiences while living abroad in Malaysia as a child, where stopping the car to let past a wild monkey was as common as stopping to let past a herd of nonchalant sheep in the windy hills of Yorkshire, England.
