Photographs taken in ideal lighting conditions are wonderful to look at, but they are also dull and characterless. So by tinkering with the lighting conditions and exposure, I tried to create something different, something exciting.
Studio photography encourages the use of just the right amount of light. This is an experiment to see what happens on breaking the rules and using excessive light.
By changing the timing at which the external flash fires, and calibrating it to when the cameras internal flash fires, and when the photo is taken, I got these sharp, high contrast images. The excess light blocks out the background and all the focus is on the subject.
The sharp, high contrast nature of these images also mean that they are highly editable. It also helps that the background is completely whited out.
