The concept:
In the entire history of design world, medium influences design fundamentally. In our age, it is an unavoidable question for every designer: what is the design for the medium of our age - the web? Frank Chimero explore the answer in his (well designed & easy reading) article WHAT SCREENS WANT. He believe "change" (animation, customization, responsiveness, and variability) is the unique chance for graphic designers of our generation to establish a new rule of our time, as important as the idea of grid in print age. While Google is writing its motion design rule: AUTHENTIC MOTION, this project is a practice of exploring the idea of "variability", primarily for branding on web media.
The Client and start point:
SPYE is a company focusing on digital display design (touch screen / projection graphics). To visualize the nature of the business, I decided to combine the hi-tech-feeling typography Exo-2 and the colorful pattern inspired by the photos of screen taken with my smartphone, which I was told later by my physicist father that it is called Moiré pattern caused by Frequency Aliasing.
