Mifá Handmade Soaps

Mifá Soaps, is a traditional and handmade soap brand, with olive oil as the main ingredient.

Every soap is unique, made with love in order to treat your skin gently, and leave it softly hydrated. Each one of the products is made with pure virgin oil, directly bought from local producers. To the olive oil, several organic ingredients are added to produce soaps with different characteristics, fit for specific skins, and its conditions.

This is a one person creation, which means just a small batch of handmade soaps are produced. Around 10 soaps of a kind are made each time, which leads to having a lot of different batches to sell. As you can see on the image below every soap is unique, so this meant the brand had to be flexible, and prone to changes, especially when designing for the labels.

So besides considering this aspect through out all the brand's conception, more important subjects came on board. As you could learn above, every soap is made with a key ingredient - the olive oil. So during the research I came across some key elements. To name a few, olive trees, olive leafs and olive oil. Inspired by the handcrafted side, I chose to create calligraphic elements and make use of recycled and craft paper.
Since these soaps are all handmade, with a unique recipe, part of the branding project also consisted in the creation of a soap catalog. This way, it serves as a mean to document the recipes, stating the ingredients and keeping track of all the soaps previously crafted. The soap pictures also serve as advertising material, expressing the brand and its elements. This was traditionally bookbinded using recycled and craft paper.

THE WEBSITE

This is a fictional website, made for practicing purposes. As it was being designed, the purpose was to keep it simple. The goal wasn’t to make it a sales website, but more of a catalog website. There people could learn about the brand’s existence, the process, and get to discover the different soaps.

Also, I'd like to thank Cristiana Fernandes and Lucas Heymès for helping me with the pictures.
And if you're curious, this is the soap's facebook page.
