Give us a brain wave

How does the brain respond to the city?

H@ presents a contemporary alternative to traditional cartography, offering an open, expansive interpretation of society known more traditionally as emotive mapping. The project comments on the individuality of the metropolis. Additionally it reveals our unitary and often repetitive routine in what is otherwise considered a spontaneous space and or place.

I believe each resident of NYC has an invisible ‘mental map’ of the city in their head that determines the way they move about the city. H@ not only maps an individuals movement around the city but it also conveys their meditative and attentive fluctuations,  accurately generating a unique meditive and attentive map of the city. In such a hectic city sourcing a routine commute, that improves ones attention and meditation is beneficial both pyschologically and pyshiologically.
The questions to be answered are endless. However, current trends suggest that walking across the city as appose to up or down improve meditation and attention levels. Furthermore, as expected public parks provide peak meditative results. Additionally, walking in the morning has demonstrated high levels of attention and medition as apose to the evening, where surprsingly medititaion outweighs attention levels dramatically.

I am currently using the data to 3D print my own emotive map of the city and work is ongoing into making more H@'s. I am excited tthis year to explore the diffreence in data between NYC and London. The project is ongoing and is currently confined to the urban environment due to the density and consistency of connectivity.
