Synopsis: Feisty, 89 year old Dzidrarecounts her memories as a young woman when her tiny, yet peaceful country isinvaded by the Soviet Union and her family is threatened. A week later, NaziGermany pushes back the Russians and Dzidra joins them as a nurse in an attemptto save her people. Her family escapes to the west, but she holds out in
Latviato fight until the last boat leaves the harbor at the end of the war.
Due tothe movie’s documentary style and the time period the character was referringto, the poster and DVD cover
were designed with elements from the Dadamovement. The collage style created with real pictures from the main characterset the poster’s mood as dramatic and personal. Moreover, it contributes to theold and homey uniqueness
of this documentary film.
