Inside the volcano

Iceland keep amaze me year after year...

Recently a company was built by cave explorers to protect and open to the public a volcano...
Yes, being able to explore a volcano!
Thrihnukagigur is an empty volcano that we're now allowed to go down the magma chamber.
The crater itself is 120m high (or you can say the descent is 120m down);
enough space to put the statue of liberty inside.
after a nice walking approach on the lava fields,
you get equipped and able to go down the crater via an open cable lift.

I must say, the experience is truly amazing down at the bottom with all the color variations of the lava surrounding you and this huge space used to be filled with magma.
