The OGN project is a cooperation between graphic design studio Oh Yeah Studio and industrial design studio NokoAnna. Our aim of the cooperation is to develop new shapes and functions after work.

Our cooperation is brand new, but as we are siblings we have always talked about doing a project together as our skills are complementary. We grew up together in Høyanger, a very small town in Norway, with a long fjord and enormous mountains surrounding the town. Firstly growing up here was quite boring, so our mind started to wonder on how to get out of there, so this was the first step to be creative. Secondly the nature is overwhelming and dramatic, so nature will always be a part of us and a part of our design, either directly or in an abstract minimalistic way.

OGN is our free platform to create without borders and deadlines, and we do it just for fun to develop our creative skills, pushing our knowledge of what is commonly known as wrong or beautiful. This particular OGN project we turned the regular design process up side down, by staring with the aesthetic of graphic lines, creating a new functionality like the making of this shelf. The coffee mug and the cups are made also by this principle, exploring what strange shapes and colors could become a nice product when put together, where as a regular client project would normally starts with that you already know the function and than you make it nice. 

The OGN project is still a concept, but who knows, perhaps we are lucky to produce parts of it one day as we now are doing with The Stone, another project we have done together. We are very inspired by the the Norwegian nature combined with abstract constructivism, this you can see in both The Stone and OGN.

We are always pushing our creative skills, because we believe that the harder we work, the more possible it is that we gain luck, so in the meantime we will design something weird in wood, but what the product will be we do not know.
