In this independent project, my goal is to design UI for a two-screen Tetris experience set in a hi-tech science fiction world. The main gameplay happens on the first screen (TV) while all interactive elements are placed on the second screen (tablet). My focus was on the UI design for Ipad as game controller.
 
 
I spent first two days for ideation (due to full-time job), and three days for implementation and documentation.
 
Design concept description:
- Intuitive, exclusive to iPad, fun and futuristic
 
This Tetris UI features a sci-fi futuristic theme on both iPad and smart TV platforms. The hud on iPad involves immersive gesture controls including swiping and finger circling. Based on research and user feedback, these are satisfying ways for using iPad as controller.

The traditional controller doesn’t have a touchscreen as large or clear as an iPad, which means iPad has more potential to deliver a more informative user interface. The iPad controller could be designed as an extension of the TV gameplay to form a continuous gaming experience. Also, it is not necessary for the user to look at the iPad while playing Tetris. However, it still could be fun to watch and play around with the interface, such as directing the will-o’-the-wisp around the screen. This is the experience user won’t be able to get from traditional controller.
