A social awareness project for my Digital Design class. Around the world today there are roughly 300,000 known child soldiers being forced to fight and die. We were supposed to incorportate a small fact about a social issue by re-creating a typeface and then incorporating it into an image. My typeface of choice was Trade Gothic and I re-created it by photographing small piles of toy soldiers and then layering them around the negative space of the typeface. The backpack was added to show scale and to also give a sense of placement and location, all images are true to scale and I spent roughly 30 hours on the project. Everything was created in Photoshop.
