This novel was written by William S. Burroughs in 1964 and is a social commentary on human and machine control of life. To get away from this control, the writer invented the cut-up and fold-in methods, which force the reader to think in associations rather than words.
This confusion created by Burroughs’s writing methods led me to create a guide which helps the reader to find these associations, without detracting from the original and unique structure of the novel. The book has a typical layout, but the text is surrounded by a series of points coupled with a numeric sequence, which can be linked together following the different colours and typefaces. These connections show the associations between the fragmented texts, like a path that the reader can choose whether or not to follow.
Visto che il mondo della tecnologia sta cambiando così velocemente ho deciso di realizzare questo romanzo anche in e-book, sfruttando la sua particolare struttura per utilizzare al meglio le caratteristiche di questo nuovo dispositivo. La sequenza numerica è stata sostituita da una serie di frecce che, tramite dei collegamenti ipertestuali, permettono di muoversi avanti e indietro nel libro seguendo i diversi argomenti.
Como contenuto aggiuntivo la versione digitale include un "dizionario" situato in fondo che spiega i principali personaggi e i sostantivi che sono stati analizzati e scoperti nella tesi di laurea.
