I was asked by Trapper Schoepp's management to come up with a poster for their Fall tour with the Jayhawks based off of the cover art for their last record where Trapper is playing guitar against an old Mercedes in a field with a hot air balloon in the background. 

 

 

I wanted to do something really over the top for the title to get people's attention but that could also potentially be used as a t-shirt design for the tour. Trapper and his management liked the poster so much, they decided to use the entire poster design as a shirt. 

The record has a lot of "out west" references so I wanted the poster to have some nature elements like the deer and bear. Plus, I just really wanted to draw them. 

This was the original sketch for the concept. How anybody gives me the greenlight to go ahead from here, I have no idea. Luckily I get great clients that trust what I do and give me the room to do it.
