Azhar - The Soap Company
...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

This was the first and introductory project for the 3D course at Ringling College of Art and Design. The project was designed to be quick and to introduce students to some packaging design fundamentals before moving on to more complex projects.

OBJECTIVE
To explore how type, color, form, and material influence communication and how these elements can   appeal to various audiences. To craft a well constructed package using paper and glue.
To design a package for a bar of soap. The design should appeal to an audience of your choosing.

MY TAKE
The idea behind my packaging design was to create something made out of recycled materials. With the following statement: Reducing, Reusing, Reinventing, Recycling. I based my design on a combination of real and fictional facts: The Dubai Duty Free has recently launched the Recycling Drive initiative which aims to encourage its 6,000 staff members to recycle wasted material and turn it into useful products, therefore collectively focusing on the 4 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Reinvent and Recycle. This past summer, Dubai Duty Free has partnered with The Soap Company to produce the first line of recycled soap to be sold in Dubai's Duty Free store. The soap line would be called Azhar and it would be fully made out of recycled material. 50% of the product profit would be donated to the Recycling Drive initiative in order to reduce recycling costs, sustain the campaign, and reinforce the recycling message.

The logotype was inspired by Bodoni Classic Condensed Roman Font.
