The newly formed Stones Throw team approached UNIT in need of an identity system that would balance the restuarant’s ideals of inspired, elevated food in an approachable, comforting environment.  The identity would extend to a stationery suite, set of menus, website, press kit, livery, and signage to provide a tactile and rustic experience for restaurant patrons while still maintaining a bit of fresh Californian sophistication.
 
The selected mark is a play on the restaurant’s name and the infamous adage,“killing two birds with one stone”. The logo reflects not only the irreverent nature of the restaurant, but also the idea of enjoying both sophisticated artisan dining and a warm, inviting environment in one place.
 
The “bird on a wire” signage emphasizes the idea that Stones Throw is a neighborhood  meeting place and local hub where community members from the Russian Hill  flock to enjoy fantastic food and great company.
