Shivarapatna 
The land of stone carving
The project did was to visit Shivarapatna, a village in Karnataka(state in India) around 75 km away from Bangalore city. And know about the craft of the place and develop their skill to a contemporary product by giving them exposure to the products available in the current market. So decided to see the current market condition and products more closely. 

CITY WALK
A walk over the city to identify the craft materials around and the types of products available on handicraft products.
Took the brand Muji as the customer. Studied about the brand their concept, philosophy, color schemes, products available, competition and the store. And a glace on its history.

DESIGN BRIEF
The amalgamation of the skills and techniques of the cluster and the essence of the muji to create a potential form which brings out the functional aspect and has a minimalistic monochromatic approach.

The Shivarapatnam Village, located in Shivarapatnam panchayat, the talluk being Mallur, is situated in the district of Kollar in Karnataka state of India.Located on the south easternThe Shivarapatnam Village, located in Shivarapatnam panchayat, the talluk being Mallur, is situated in the district of Kollar. The nearest major city is Bangalore which is around 75 km approx. It can be reached by any city and countries around the world by air. It is connected to every city in India via road and train.Local taxi and buses can be rented on the daily basis to the village.

Around 75th of the whole population works in the stone carving industry making it a major hub of stone and rock art.The major occupation of Shivarapatna are tailoring, farming, labours, carpeting, steel work, stone carving and vegetable vendors.
KADAMBARI- an NGO Kadambari is a Bangalore based NGO that aims to foster and promote traditional Indian arts, crafts and culture. It played a significant roll in facilitating the need for a cluster in the village. Kadambari is working closely with the development of rural development and Panchayat Raj. Helped in the arrangement of knowing the village and artisans, so to move on with the project.

MATERIAL
Mysore stone
Tools and Equipments
Pottery red paint, Kavi paint (kavi powder + water) and Chalk used for marking on the stone.
Decided on making something which has some relation with water and could blend with the texture of stone. Finalized on making a fountain taking inspiration from the mood board, philosophy of Muji and by understanding Shivarapatna. 



Myself and the artisan (Sreejith) whom i guided to make the product.

increasing water level .... 
The fountain which circulates water around the body continuously without over flooding. It also stops circulating when necessary so as to increases the level of water to a point, looking like pond. Where we can put flowers which we can use to emphasis the place and look attractive. Also be used for puja.
