MA 1.5: Field Interviews
Justin Mescher
Student Union

Observation and quotes:
Justin studies three to four hours every day, totaling to about fifteen to twenty a week.  His favorite place to study is in Love library.  This is because is it super quiet and usually not overcrowded.  Also he prefers to study by himself rather than in groups because other people tend to distract him from his work.  He doesn’t usually get stressed about homework and tests because he gets his stuff done as he gets it and understands that cramming before tests isn’t the best option.  He has a very clear drive to do well in school, in order to get good grades.

Interpretations:
We met Justin Mescher in the student union.  We were amazed to realize just how well organized and dedicated of a student he was.  This is significant because he was so far ahead of most students with his study habits and discipline to get stuff done when it was handed to him rather than procrastinating like most students.

Ben Wachholtz
Hamilton Hall
Observation and quotes:
Ben was a regular studier.  He estimated that he studied about fourteen hours a week, and was confident that his study habits were better than most on campus.  He said in regards to test preperation he studies the teachers powerpoints from teachers to learn the basics, and then uses the book to go into better detail.  He studies mostly at night, and never in groups because others distract him from studying.  Also, the subjects that he studys most is his chemistry and international relations class.  His favorite place to study is at his desk in his room at Schramm, or the study rooms there.

Interpretations:
We met Ben Wachholtz in Hamilton hall.  We were amazed to realize the simalrities between him and the other students we had interviewed thus far.  This is significant because the study habits that were working for the other people we had interviewed were working for him as well.

Olivo Bibian
Love Library
Observations and quotes:
Olivo was sitting in the corner of Love Library, where he was studying by himself. He was almost looking off in the distance, as if he was day dreaming when we confronted him and introduced ourselves for the interview. Olivo had his computer open and turned on as if he was using it, he also had his algebra, notebook, pencil, and calculator with him, almost as if he is studying for his math class. Olivo likes to study at Love Library, mostly for the reason because it is quiet and where his roomates won't bother him at Sandoz. He also likes Love Library because there are also other people studying like him so he doesn't feel alone. He considers himself a casual-study guy: spending about 3 hours a day studying. When we met Olivo, he mentioned that he had procrastinated on his math assignment and that we caught him off-guard when we met him. Olivo also mentioned that Math is the subject that stresses the most and the subject that he studies most. He usually likes to hang-out with his roommates when he wants to take breaks with his studying, or listen to music. Olivo also mentioned that he prefers books over computers, the reason being that he likes to have it physically there, he can write notes, and highlight important information.

Interpretations:
We met Olivo Bidian. We were amazed to realize he was day dreaming when we met him. This is significant because  this form of habit can be a distratction or a good habit to give him breaks during studying
Tanner Kirchhoff
Hamilton Hall
Observations and quotes:
We found him coming down Hamilton hall, he just got done with class and was heading to his Fraturnity home. He tends to study around 2 hours and he said "if that," implying that he probably doesn't study at all. He doesn't like to be distracted by other people and he likes to be by himself when he studies, which is why he likes to study in the study room in his Fraturnity home or in his room. He tends to stress over Chemistry the most and he also tends to procrasitnate.
Tanner also said that he gets stressed over tests and exams.

Interpretations:
We met Tanner Kirchhoff. We were amazed to realize that he doesn't study. This is significant because college involves a student to study at least at some point in order to pass classes, but he seems to be well off of not studying.
