Spettacolo n1 (Entertainment in English) is a communication project for the Senesi Nature Reserves.
This project is to investigate the equilibrium and spontaneous relationships that an inhabitant establishes with the places that he feels a part of but often forgets. The project is built in the form of an event. The project invites you to take part in the staging of the show in which the inhabitant is not only the viewer but also the protagonist.
Why Spettacolo n1?
One is singular and basic, the ratio of balance and harmony that binds an inhabitant to his habitat. We can describe ourselves, our feelings, our memories through these places.
We have close relationships with them. If the place described also changes our actions, our habits and our lives we become conditioned. We live in harmony with what surrounds us, so we are the spontaneous actors that communicate the meaning and value of the natural "scene". We are different from visitors who are just passing through.

Our goal is to experience a kind of collaboration with those who live and manage a place, and finally to develop a communication system which starts from its inhabitants.
The project aims to reactivate the relationship, the link between the inhabitant and his place so that it can be seen as an asset and a value to be preserved for future generations.

Spettacolo n1 è un progetto di comunicazione per le Riserve Naturali Senesi.
Questo progetto va ad indagare l’equilibrio e il rapporto spontaneo che un abitante instaura con i luoghi che gli appartengono ma che spesso dimentica. Il progetto è un evento costruito sotto forma di spettacolo che invita a prendere parte alla scena l'abitante, il quale non è solo spettatore ma il vero protagonista.
Perchè Spettacolo n°1?
Uno, unico, basilare, è il rapporto di equilibrio e armonia che lega un abitante ai luoghi in cui viviamo.

1_Conoscere le Riserve Naturali Senesi da un punto di vista naturalistico
Le 14 Riserve Naturali costituiscono un sistema di aree protette il cui scopo è quello di garantire e promuovere la conservazione e la valorizzazione dell’ambiente, del paesaggio, del patrimonio storico-culturale e di quello naturalistico.

We chose the Nature Reserve of Castelvecchio.
It is located in Val d'Elsa, a few kilometers from San Gimignano. This area is protected because it has a particular type of vegetation and numerous ruins from a medieval fortress.
Initially, we collected information from tourist offices in the area, as well as the public library and various associations.
We visited the reserve with employees from the forest service, to understand the lay of the land.
After that, we carried out a series of interviews with some residents of San Gimignano.
Through meetings and interviews, we collected a series of anecdotes from the site and suggestions for the project to help develop the countryside.

To build this system, we used the "names" of several places that make up the nature reserve.

The names are very important as they help to orientate within a territory, provide information on the characteristics of the place, tell anecdotes or simple legends, and refer to the collective values that constitute the true identity of the place.
We have identified the names on the maps inside the perimeter of the reserve, and we divided them into four paths. The routes will be used during the event. At each stage, a small part of the story will be read as a guide explains the different natural features.

Per costruire questo sistema abbiamo utilizzato i “nomi” dei vari luoghi di cui è composta la Riserva Naturale.
Un territorio è costituito da molti nomi che vengono attribuiti ad ogni piccola parte che lo costituisce.

I nomi sono molto importanti perchè aiutano ad orientarsi all’interno di un territorio, informano sulle caratteristiche del posto, raccontano aneddoti o semplici leggende, fanno riferimento ai valori collettivi, costituendo una vera identità del luogo.
Abbiamo individuato sulle mappe i nomi interni al perimetro della Riserva e li abbiamo divisi in quattro percorsi
che verranno utilizzati durante la visita dell'evento. Ad ogni tappa verrà letta una piccola parte del racconto mentre una guida illustrerà le diverse caratteristiche naturali.

Collection of information on impressions of the walks through a blog and a website.
The information is intended to be used as material for the next event thus creating a sort of annual event. Information will be left at the site year-round giving a full explanation of the project, how to reach the reserve concerned, the routes chosen and guide-books for download.

Raccolta delle informazioni riguardanti le impressioni della camminata attraverso un blog e un sito web.
Le informazioni servono come materiale per il prossimo evento creando così una sorta di appuntamento. Nel sito l’utente troverà la spiegazione completa del progetto, come raggiungere la Riserva interessata, i vari percorsi scelti e i libretti-guida scaricabili.

4_Experimentation of the project: participation in the event held in the town of San Gimignano "Nottilucente"
We recreated a sort of path in the space that had been allocated within the town during the event Nottilucente. We set up the space with a path, panels and books that told the meaning of the names collected during the research phase.

4_Sperimentazione del progetto: partecipazione all'evento del comune di San Gimignano “Nottilucente”
Abbiamo ricreato una sorta di percorso nello spazio che c’era stato assegnato all’interno del paese durante l'evento Nottilucente. Abbiamo allestito lo spazio con percorso, pannelli e libretti che raccontavano il significato dei nomi raccolti durante la fase di ricerca.
