The Big Sleep is a serious and significant mainstream novel that possesses elements of mystery and crime.
There are many layers and themes within the book and I had to avoid the obvious clichés and tackle the brief from a fresh new angle. I was told to read the book and discover what it meant to me personally and redesign the book jacket. I was given a specific design template in which I had to work with. The design had to be well executed with an imaginative concept which would clearly place the book for its market. It also had to be eye-catching from within a crowded bookshop setting and also needed to work on screen for digital retailers such as Amazon.
